A Slippery Slope of Soap

Question...

Does a bar of soap clean itself?...

I have been using liquid soap for so long my OCD has not tackled this one. I was at the beach this weekend, and the only soap in the shower was a half used bar of soap. After looking at it for about four minutes, I ran it under the hottest of waters and hoped that did the trick. After I got out of the shower my uncle talked about the guests who had been there before me...all I could imagine was them soaping up their BODY parts. Gag!

I am a freak with issues...please let me know your thoughts on the situation!

Balance

Hello!

Just a quick thought...

This weekend I went to Auburn to visit "my fam," and K and I went to a yoga class. I have come to the conclusion that life is like the tree pose. It's a balance. Some days you can perform great, very focused, while other days you can't get your damn foot to stay in your inner thigh without falling over. You feel inferior to all the yogis who have also have their arms above their head balancing perfectly (please don't mistake that for bitterness, if anything it fuels my fire to perfection...duh). Anyway, just some symbolism to think about. Let's hope my attempt at tree pose on Sat isn't symbolic to anything in my life!

Night night!

T'was the night before my 23rd birthday...

T'was the night before my 23rd birthday, and it's 11 o'clock and my eyes are at half mass...23 going on 95.

Anywho, I think I have had a lot of subconscious anxiety about turning one year older because I have not been really excited about it. I am thinking it has something to do with the...don don don "TRANSITION." I think in my subconscious, blond, WTF part of my brain I am thinking, " holy shit, a year older means a year closer to actually being expected to know what I want out of life." At this point in my life, I am having a hard time deciding if I should be out saving the world or if I should just worry about which mascara clumps...both extreme, but you get my point. So, I have been thinking about this a lot lately, and I have come to the decision that I am going to start practicing mindfulness again....I can picture you guys reading this thinking, "why do I associate myself with this crunchy granola freak." Just hear me out...my last semester in college I took a mindfulness class (probably the only class that was somewhat beneficial and I actually learned something from. Hehe, thanks mom and dad), and I swear it works! It is by far one of the hardest things to do because it takes extreme focus, but for someone like me who doesn't have a lot of patience, it really helps.
So anyway, the practice is basically not thinking about anything else but that exact moment. You are supposed to be able to take everything away from that moment. It's kind of cool. I made this decision on Friday afternoon about half way through my massage because I had so much on my mind that I was not enjoying myself. When I decided to turn everything off and just embrace what was going on in that moment (thank goodness I shaved my arm pits this time, or that would have been a rather embarrassing moment...for the second time) it was so liberating because I felt everything. Of course it is extremely hard to do every moment of everyday, but I promised myself to try to focus on it while doing things like eating, exercising, driving, and talking with people.

Anyway, enough crazy talk...I am 23 biotches!!!!

Ketchup...I mean catch up!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

I haven't posted in a while because I have been super busy catching up on my DVR and watching Lifetime movies. They suck the energy right out of me, let me tell ya! Anyway, I bought Crest White Strips today and have them on right now, so I thought I would kill two birds with one stone. They are just going to make my tongue numb and my already puffy gums even more puffy, but what the hell. I am hoping blogging will be more beneficial.

On to bigger and better things...so I promised I would write about the places I went to brunch TWO WHOLE weekends ago, so please hang in there because I may not remember all the details. Yeah right, who are we kidding? It was the highlight of last month. Anyway, I took my mom to Ria's Bluebird in Grant Park for her b-day. It was absolutely delicious! I had been there before with the Gemini and loved it, so I was excited to take my mom there because I knew she would enjoy it as well. My only complaint is they make you wait outside until your table is ready. That is not what you want to do when you are hungry in 40 degree, rainy weather. So here is how it works, you put your name in and the hostess says, " just wait outside until I call your name." Both times I have been there I give her this look like excuse me why don't you drag your fat ass out there and wait in the cold, because we all know I am all looks. She repeats herself again, and of course I can't back my look up, so I say, "ok, thank you" politely, but I am oh so bitter inside. We only had to wait about ten minutes until our name was called, which wasn't as bad as I made it out to be. It is a smaller menu, but covers all the bases, which makes it nice when trying to make a decision. We decided to order the breakfast burrito and raspberry pancakes and split them, like a little salty and a little sweet. I took pictures, so when I figure out how to upload them on here you will be able to see heaven.
The burrito was filled with potatoes, eggs, cheese, and had sour cream and salsa on top! The pancakes were light and fluffy pancakes with fresh raspberries in the batter with your choice of butter, syrup, and/or chocolate sauce on top...AMAZING!! I highly recommend this place! Everything is really fresh and healthy, and the atmosphere is unique. I would describe the staff as the drama people in high school...they don't give a damn about what people think. Obviously they provide great service, so it isn't an issue, but the whole waiting outside in cold weather thing...they don't care. So, the lesson of the day for me after observing these, for lack of a better descriptive word, "bad asses" was to not care what people think as much. It honestly becomes exhausting! I have decided that when I need a little reminder of this lesson, I will venture out to Ria's Bluebird and indulge in delicious coffee and light and fluffy fruity pancakes (hopefully someone will join to fulfill the salty side) and watch the staff brush dem shouldas' off (never said I was cool).

Ok, off to bed for me! Tomorrow I will write about the other brunch place I went with a friend and my valentines dinner, which I will probably still be burping up garlic even then. Mmmm!

Garlic kisses,

Me

p.s. I want to explain why I will not be using anyone's real name in my blog. Number one, when my blog becomes like super famous I don't want the media stalking anyone, so I am really protecting you guys. haha! Number two (the real reason), when I was studying abroad I became friendly with this girl who had a blog. She sent me the link all excited for me to read it, and little did I know one of her posts had my full name in it saying basically that she felt sorry for me because I was not her religion. Weird, I know. Eventhough I do not plan on humilliating anyone, I think nicknames will be much more fun anyway! Ok night night!

Trail Mix

Hi All!

I promise one of these days I will write about my brunch experiences this past weekend, but tonight I am going to go with trail mix. Ever since I started working I have started a habit of stopping at the Fresh Market (conveniently right across the street) on my way home a couple times a week. It has become sort of an unwinding from the day ritual. You know like normal people go for a jog or to the gym, I wander around the grocery store. Now that I am typing it out I feel a little embarrassed! Anyway, they always have a little sample of coffee, which has been nice in the cold weather. So, I usually get a piece of fruit or something from their AMAZING trail mix selection, and when I pay they always have a little sample treat, like banana nut bread or something. I always have the same convo with the cashier, "oh wow, this is delicious!" Like it is my first time in there...yeah right, I am surprised they don't have a warrant out for me for eating/drinking samples, and then spending less than $3.
Ok, enough confessions for tonight. I have come to the conclusion that trail mix is the answer to all problems, the #1 snack (or if you get enough of it...meal), and the perfect companion to annoy all your classmates! Think about it, you have nuts for protein, chocolate to satisfy your sweet tooth, and raisins are sweet and healthy all at the same time. The perfect combo of salty and sweet!
So, where am I going with this? Today I had the day off, so I mixed it up and went to whole foods because they have a cafe area, and I needed to study. So, after studying I justified buying a cookie for myself. It took me a good 7 minutes to decide if I should go with the chocolate peanut butter cookie or the oatmeal chocolate chip. I decided that because I only had a salad for lunch I should probably go with the chocolate peanut butter because it had more protein, naturally right? After picking out my cookie, I walked around the store to see that they had a trail mix station too. Not as intense as Fresh Market, but of course I found something that looked appealing. I filled up a little bag and was on my way.

As I was driving down the street, I hit Pine and Juniper, which is Peanut Butter Jelly Time's prime spot. There is always a group of homeless people. I thought about how greedy I was for buying a cookie and trail mix, so I pulled into the far right lane preparing to give my trail mix to someone. I spotted this woman who looked like she needed some trail mix to brighten her day, who doesn't? I was getting ready to roll down my window, when all of a sudden a man with a bag approached her. I totally witnessed a drug deal! Needless to say, she needed a little more than trail mix. I rolled up my window and kept driving...maybe next time. I guess everyone needs a little something to get through the day! K, you will be very impressed, since I was unable to give away my trail mix, I decided not to annoy my classmates and leave it in the car. :)

Night! :)

Stinky Baby Tee

Today was a very sad day in the Gilchrist house. Our puppy dog of 15 years passed away. Teela had congestive heart failure, and it was time for her to go. Tonight I am going to write about her. I remember when she was "delivered" to us by her breeder, Jan, just before my dad's birthday. Ironically, she was scared of him for the first little bit. I was in second grade, so getting a dog was super cool! Over the years, Baby Tee found out how to rule the house. All she had to do was pee and poop on everything. She was quite a stubborn little booger. She had certain foods she would eat, only certain people she would go to the bathroom outside for, and certain place in the house where she would go to the bathroom. Every woman should take a lesson from Tee, she knew what she wanted and did it! GIRL POWER! Anyway, here is a little list about Teela:

1. She deserved a better name. The breeder named her after the Star Trek character...duh she was way cooler than that.

2. She only dined on classy foods, like frosted mini wheats, scrambled eggs, and of course shredded mozzerella cheese. (cough cough in her earlier years she liked a mid-night snack of cat poop)

3. She was the only girl I knew who could pull off a mustache. The longer the better.

4. I think she thought she was a cat because she would join in on their Sunday self bathing...everyday.

5. Would come running when she heard the word "cookie"...a girl after my own heart.

I started feeling guilty today because, as most of you know, I wasn't always the nicest in the family to Teela. I felt bad for calling her a little bitch, but really she was an 8lb female dog. It was so sad coming home today because for the past 15 years of my life she has always been here. Teela, you were an outstanding fur, and you will be greatly missed. Love you!

P.S. One last Fur song...
Fur on the left
Fur on the right
Oh Oh Oh what a beautiful sight!

P.S.S. to my 4 followers...thanks for humoring me.

Judgement Free Zone

Hello! Ok so I am new at this. The reactions I have gotten so far are..."Wow. How alternatively trendy of you." and "but you use really bad grammar." Which brings me to the name of the title...don't judge me for improper spelling and grammar (cough cough K and WJ). Anyway, I am starting this blog because with the seven months of the real world under my belt, I feel like I am quite a pro and would like to share my eminence amounts of wisdom with everyone...NOT!! Haha, not quite. I have actually found the transition from, "oh my gosh, Bodega was so fun last night" to "oh my gosh, half my pay check is going towards paying for damn insurance" quite interesting to say the least. Moving back to Atlanta, I have found a passion for food. Wait...who am I kidding I have always loved food. I think what has happened is my options have grown from the plethora of chicken finger and BBQ restaurants in Auburn to the endless options of heavenly deliciousness in Atl. I can't even imagine if I lived in NYC. So basically I am going to write about the funny, ironic, and frustrating happenings of my newborn life in the real world, and of course I will find some way to write about all the yummy restaurants I plan to try! Ok, until next time! :)
